Intervention by H.E. Pen Bona, Royal Government Spokesperson
In my capacity as the Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia, I would like to reaffirm to the public and the international community that the government’s stance on peace is clear, unequivocal, and unwavering.
As I have previously stated, “Peace has become an integral part of Cambodia’s identity. Why is this so? It is because Samdech Techo Hun Sen, a former prime minister and currently the president of the Senate, is the founding father and the main architect of peace through the “win-win policy,” putting an end to the civil war, which lasted almost three decades, and achieving a complete peace and an unprecedented national reconciliation like never before.
Currently, the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly, under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister, is a guardian of peace, and the fruitful achievements of the nation resulted from Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s earnest efforts. The current government continues to develop the country based on this solid foundation. Therefore, the Royal Government of Cambodia fully supports the initiative proposed by President Donald Trump regarding the ceasefire and demonstrates its strong commitment to respecting the ceasefire agreement and has been implementing this truce with utmost restraint, as witnessed by both the Cambodian and international communities.
Cambodia also fully supports and strongly encourages broader participation from international observers, especially the ASEAN Observers Team, as agreed upon during the Extraordinary Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on August 7, 2025.
In this sense, “peace” remains a defining identity of Cambodia for eternity. Although some entities have questioned and raised trivial reasons to overshadow Cambodia’s peaceful efforts, our stance for peace still glows brightly and relentlessly from within the hearts of our leadership and every Khmer person forever.
