This morning, I would like to provide an update on the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border after both sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire agreement following the signing of the Joint Statement. From 12:00pm (local time) on December 27, 2025, up to 8:00am this morning, the frontline situation has remained calm. However, our military forces stand strong and are performing their duties with full vigilance in defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
I would like to emphasize that yesterday’s Joint Statement is a continuation of previous agreements, including the Ceasefire dated July 28, 2025; the Joint Declaration on Peace signed by both Cambodia and Thailand dated October 26, 2025; and other agreed-upon documents. In this regard, both sides highly value the role of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and have agreed to strengthen its mandate in verifying and ensuring the effective implementation of the measures agreed upon yesterday.
The 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thai General Border Committee (GBC) adopted and signed the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand and reaffirmed their firm commitment to fully implement the ceasefire and seek peace, stability and security for the people living along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
