The Royal Government Spokesperson wishes to inform the public as follows

On March 10, 2026, Thai media reported remarks by Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuongketkaew, saying that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet had posted on social media indicating that the negotiation to claim back the Cambodian territory would take place following the New Year celebrations.

Regarding this matter, the Spokesperson of the Royal Government of Cambodia would like to clarify as follows:

First, the Prime Minister has never made any statement or posted on social media regarding negotiations through the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) mechanism to be held after the New Year, as mentioned above.

Second, the Royal Government of Cambodia’s position is clear: it fully respects and upholds the spirit of the Joint statement of December 27, 2025, and other existing agreements, allowing the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) to resume at the earliest opportunity to resolve border issues and ensure lasting peace along the border between the two countries without waiting until after the New Year.

In fact, since the second ceasefire came into effect at 12:00 noon on December 27, 2025, the State Secretariat of Border Affairs, representing Cambodia’s Joint Boundary Commission (JBC), has already submitted five letters to the Thai side, formally requesting that Thailand dispatch a joint survey team to conduct on-site measurements and carry out work on the ground.

Therefore, the public is kindly requested to take note of this clarification.
