The updated situation of the Cambodia-Thailand border after the Thai military launched attacks on Cambodian military and civilians

“The updated situation of the Cambodia-Thailand border after the Thai military launched attacks on Cambodian military and civilians”.

Greetings to the general public and members of the press!

This morning I would like to update on the situation of the Thai invasion and armed attacks to launch on Cambodian territory in the 4th and 5th Military Regions on December 27, 2025, which incurred 21 days that Thai side has continuously violated the ceasefire and the joint declaration signed by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand on October 26, 2025.  

Even though the GBC Secretariat meeting has concluded yesterday, and according to the schedule, the 3rd GBC Special Meeting is to be convened this morning under the observation of the AOT Cambodia-Thailand, the threat and hostility of the Thai invading military against Cambodian sovereignty territory still continue in some areas right at this moment.

– First, the frontline situation at the 4th Military Region in Preah Vihear and Uddar Mean Chey Province, The Thai military continues its attack to invade Cambodian sovereign territory from 5 p.m. on December 26 to 8 a.m. on December 27.

On December 26, from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m., the Thai military fired artillery shells into the area of Preah Vihear temple, Phnom Kmoach, Koul Prambei and continued shelling the areas of Tamorn Temple and Chupkorki.

– At 10 p.m., the Thai military bombarded the area of Tamon Temple.  On December 27, at 5.28 a.m., the Thai military fired artillery and supporting weapons along with their infantry force attempted to infiltrate into the area of Osmach; according to their plan to invade Cambodian sovereign territory. 

– At 7 a.m., the Thai military began fire DTI-2 multiple rocket launchers and artillery into the area of Preah Vihear temple, Phnom Khmoach, Choam Te, and Koul Prambei and deployed fighter jets into bombarding the area of Choam and Chubrun border checkpoints. They also continued firing tanks and armoured vehicle-mounted machine guns, artillery, and mortars into Cambodian sovereign territory. 

– At 7.10 a.m., the Thai military launched intensified attacks using additional artillery and drones into the area of Preah Vihear Temple, Phnom Khmoac and Koul Prambei.

– At 8 a.m., the Thai military continued additional attacks in the area of Preah Vihear temple, Phnom Khmoach, Choam Te, Koul Prambei, Mombei and firing artillery shells and tanks and armoured vehicle-mounted guns accompanied by their infantry attempted to infiltrate the area of Choam and Chubrun border checkpoints and Tamorn temple.

The situation in some frontlines is calm while in other areas, the Thai military continued to carry out its attacks on Cambodian sovereign territory. 

– Second, the frontlines situation at the fifth military region in Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, and Pursat provinces. The Thai military continued its attacks to invade Cambodian sovereign territory from 5 p.m. on December 26 to 8 a.m. on December 27, 2025.

– On December 26, 2025, from 5 p.m. on December 26 to 7 a.m. on December 27, the Thai military fired 80 shells along with two rounds of flare guns and deployed reconnaissance drones violating Cambodian airspace in the area of Beong Trakuon.

– From 5 p.m. on December 26 to 7 a.m. on December 27, the Thai military shelled approximately 100 rounds in the area of Prey Chann village.

– From 5 p.m. on December 26 to 7 a.m. on December 27, the Thai military shelled approximately 300 rounds in the area of Chok Chey village.

-From 5 p.m. on December 26 to 7 a.m. on December 27, the Thai military fired 11 shells into the area of Phnom Prek district, Battambang province. 

– From 5 p.m. on December 26 to 7 a.m. on December 27, the Thai military fired 5 shells into the area of Ang Ban commune, Sampovloun district, Battambang province. 

– On December 27, 2025, from 3.44 a.m. to 5.37 a.m., the Thai military deployed drones to drop 10 bombs in the area of Oplukdamrei.

– At 7.31 a.m., the Thai military deployed F-16 fighter jets to drop 4 bombs further deep into Cambodian sovereignty in Kampong Svay district, Serey Sophorn municipality, Banteay Meanchey province.  The situation in some frontlines is calm while in other areas, the Thai military continues to carry out its attack on Cambodian sovereign territory. 

Cambodia reaffirmed its firm commitment to respect and strictly abide by the terms of ceasefire and the joint declaration on the peace agreement between Cambodia and Thailand acting with the utmost goodwill and responsibility.

Cambodia is resolutely committed to the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law  as well as all existing treaty conventions and agreements with the objective of finding a just equitable and lasting resolution. 

Consequently, Cambodia further expressed its earnest hope that the Thai side will equal respect and adhere to the joint declaration on the peace agreement signed by both countries on October 26, 2025.
