Keynote Address by H.E. LTG. Maly Socheata, the Ministry of National Defense Spokesperson:

The update regarding the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border following the ceasefire reached between Cambodia and Thailand, which took effect at 12pm on December 27, 2025, and as of 4pm this afternoon, the situation in Military Region 4 and Military Region 5 remained calm.

At the same time, the Cambodian force continued to monitor the situation closely and stand strong, be brave, and remain vigilant in fulfilling their role to protect the territorial integrity of Cambodia. The joint statement, which took effect from 12pm on December 27, 2025, highlighted the joint commitment to the implementation of the priority cooperation by using and underlining the existing agreements. 

The Royal Government of Cambodia and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces reaffirm their firm, sincere, and honest commitment to fully respecting all established agreements, reflecting their dedication to a peaceful resolution within an international legal framework as a responsible and peace-loving country. This includes the Cambodia-Thailand ceasefire agreement of July 28, 2025, the joint declaration on the Cambodia-Thailand peace agreement of October 26, 2025, and the recent joint statement of the third special meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) signed on December 27, 2025. By consistently implementing these terms and other agreed documents, we aim to facilitate a rapid return to normalcy and ensure lasting security for the citizens living along our shared border.

The joint statement adopted on December 27, 2025, has received strong support and welcome from the international community and reflects the shared support for regional peace that exists not only between Cambodia and Thailand but also among all nations in the world that want to see peace, stability, and development. We reiterate our unwavering position to resolve all issues in accordance with international law, the United Nations Charter, and the ASEAN Charter.
